Swiss Federal Railways (abbrevated as SBB in German) is the national railway company of Switzerland. The SBB is headquartered in Berne and is a stock corporation owned by the state.
Founded in 1902, the SBB transports 357 million passengers and 50 million net tonnes of freight every year. With over 28,000 railway employees is the SBB not only the largest travel and transport company in Switzerland but also one of the biggest employers of the country. The SBB Group is made up of the four divisions Passenger, Freight (SBB Cargo) Infrastructure and Real Estate. In addition to these are the Control and Service functions, which include Corporate Finance and Personnel.
